The Civil Aviation Authority will be delighted to hear that they are to be the recipients of more free consultation from Eyeup Aerial Solutions. What they do to deserve this I really don't know, but it's probably best that they don't tell everybody about it... after all Eyeup, like the poor RPAS section, is heavily under resourced.Never mind. As a taster of the full CAP 722H version 2 Oversight Report to come, here's a lovely example of the UK's inconsistent approach to safety.All three of the statements in this image are gleaned from live operational authorisations. Yes, that's right. If you are a jobbing remote pilot working against different operator's manuals, you'd better check which version you are working to. It has been a rough ride for some time and it will get worse, before it gets better. We at CHC Helicopter and all our staff are doing what we can to deliver to promise, but it is getting increasingly challenging. This article in Vertical Mag is articulating the challenges in a good way. #CHC

Boom Supersonic Begins Overture FAA Certification ProcessBoom Supersonic has received its FAA G-1 stage 1 issue paper from the FAA, marking a key step in the multi-stage process toward clearing the Mach 1.7 Overture airliner for commercial service by the end of the decade.The G-1 certification basis spells out the specific airworthiness standards and environmental standards—including special conditions—required for FAA Type Certification. Under the second stage of the G-1 process now underway the FAA will lay out its view on what the certification basis—including special conditions—should be for the Overture.In the third stage of the G-1 process, Boom will coordinate with the FAA on what it intends to do to meet the requirements. This could result in an updated issue paper from the FAA if required, or—if agreement is reached—will lead to a fourth stage to conclude the G-1. Sikorsky S-92 #Helicopter #accident off the Norwegian coast (February 2024) claimed a life and left five injured in the #NorthSea off Norway. This incident reminds a need to #LearnLessons as the UK offshore oil and gas workers use this model.It's reminiscent of the 2009 Bond Offshore Helicopters Flight 85N accident, which resulted in 16 fatalities and significant destruction in the North Sea. A complex investigation of 2009 accident identified three key lessons:1. The catastrophic failure of the main rotor gearbox, rsulted from a #FatigueFracture in a gear.2. Misinterpretation of #WarningSigns of metal dust during previous inspections.3.
