This week, the UMCG Innovation Center attended the official opening of a state-of-the-art early phase clinical unit with 12 beds on the premises of thehospital. 🎯 'URinControl', treatment of urinary incontinence through self-management app!We are thrilled to spotlight the incredible work of Anne Loohuis, a general practitioner and researcher-epidemiologist at the UMCG. Anne and the dedicated team have been pioneering the field of digital health interventions with their innovative URinControl app.The URinControl app is an example of applicable eHealth solutions. Since its inception in 2014, the project has achieved remarkable milestones:🔍 Evidence-Based Success: Research shows the app works just as effectively as traditional treatments, saving €160 per patient annually.📈 Wide Reach: Currently, 22,000 women are using the app, experiencing significant health improvements and cost savings.♻ Accessibility and Sustainability: The app is freely available since 2021, with a focus on vulnerable groups and a sustainable funding model.The URinControl app is more than just a tool; it's a movement towards normalizing conversations about urinary incontinence and breaking down societal taboos. 🤝Samen bereik je meer dan alleen! Vandaag ondertekenen we met en de University of Groningeneen intentieverklaring om onze bestaande samenwerking uit te breiden.Als de medische wetenschap en industrie de krachten bundelen, gebeuren er mooie dingen. Met de universiteit en J&J werkten we al samen op het gebied van oncologie en immunologie, maar bijvoorbeeld ook aan het gebruik van data in de gezondheidszorg, zoals op het gebied van moeilijk te behandelen depressies.Samen onderzoeken en ontwikkelen we nieuwe manieren om medicijnen toe te dienen.📝Met de ondertekening van het ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ zetten we een stap om intensiever samen te werken om de gezondheid van patiënten te verbeteren.Wij zijn blij met dit mooie vooruitzicht!#healthcareinnovation #healthyageing #publicprivatepartnerships
